For my photos I wanted my model to wear a dark top so it would look more effective if I changed it into black and white. I also chose someone who had dark hair so it would also help the image stand out more in black and white. I chose a mid-shot for my images because they show more detail, emotion and colour contrasts in the image. I did not want the pictures to look to serious which is why I got the pictures to have a different emotion, for example the second image makes her look like she is having fun whereas the third image looks like she is more focused on something.

How old were you when you had first decided you wanted to be in the music industry/ started singing?
I have always wanted to be a singer ever since I was little. I used to put on performances for my family and friends most weekends, I only started taking it seriously when I was around 16 though.

Who influenced you the most to take on this type of career?
My family always liked seeing me perform. Even though I probably got on their nerves when I was singing round the house everyday they always came to see me in school concerts. I think they were the people who encouraged me the most.
Are your family supportive of the type of music you have chosen?
They are supportive of me in general and have said that they will support me whatever I choose to do. I think that some songs in the R&B genre can be a bit explicit but i try to stay away from that type of R&B.
Who is the biggest fan of your music that you know?
My mum has always been a fan of my music, I think its because she has seen me growing up and is glad that my music career took off. She never misses one of my concerts and I am always greatful to have her backstage supporting me.

What music track stands out the most from your current album?
Its hard to choose a single track that stands out to me, I have had fun recording all of my music and even more fun making the videos for each one. They have all made my album a success so I couldn't choose.
How many people have you collaborated with before?
I have collaborated with 4 people before, not too many but enough to make the music on my album different.
Who did you have the most fun with when making a new track?
Again I don't think I could say who I had more fun with whilst making a song, all of the people I have collaborated with has been so fun to work with and all of the songs had a bit of everyones input.
Have you seen them since you made the songs?
I have made the effort to try and stay in touch with all of them as we had so much fun making the songs. I have seen everyone since I have worked with them and am hoping to keep in touch and see them again soon.
In the music industry who would you most like to collaborate with?
I think I would like to work with Kendrick Lemar because he is going to be a massive star and I love listening to his music.
Would you say that they are your idol?
I wouldn't say he is my idol, I admire his music and I think he would be great to work with.
How have you made yourself/ your music different from everybody else?
I havent tried to do anything in particular, I just record the songs I like the most and hope that my fans like them too. People have different taste in music so I try to do a range of songs.

Is this because you want more publicity and number ones than other artists or because this is what you feel comfortable doing?
It is definitely what I feel comfortable doing, I don't try to compete with other artists because we have different music and voices and different ways of expressing our songs.

Out of all of your music videos which one did you have the most fun filming?
That's hard to choose, just like my music I have tried to do a variety of videos to keep my fans interested. I particularly liked the one that I filmed in the bahamas because that whole trip was a new adventure for me. I had never been there before and getting the opportunity to go and shoot a music video there was unreal, its definitely a music video that I will remember.

Would you say this is your favourite video overall?
I think I will remember this video over the others purely because it was a completely new place for me. I had a lot of fun filming it and it was the most exotic place I have ever filmed a video in.
You are in the news a lot recently, how do you cope with this?
I try to stay away from the press as much as possible because I don't like my family or my friends and relationships being effected because of the press and news. My life is my life and I would expect people to be a bit more respectful of that, its not easy having your life published in the news.

Font Testing
Font Testing
Impact
This font
would be used for a music magazine that is very bold and trying to make an
impact. It could be used for highlighting certain parts on an R&B cover/
page, for example a heading or subheading. It would not be suitable for a pop
magazine or a children’s music magazine as it does not come across as friendly
and does not attract a younger audience.
Comic
Sans MS
This
font could be used for a children’s music magazine or a pop magazine because it
is clear to read, looks friendly (because the letters are not sharp) and would
attract a younger audience. It would not be suitable for an R&B magazine
because R&B is more urban and would have slightly sharper letters.
Georgia
I do not
think that this font is suitable for an R&B music magazine because it is
too plain, slick and proper for an R&B magazine. I think that this font
would be more suitable for a more classical music magazine instead of an
R&B one.
For my R&B magazine I will use
a font that is bold and stands out. This is because in the R&B genre you
need to be bold and different from everybody else to do well. I do not want the
font to have rounded edges like Comic Sans MS because it attracts a younger
audience whereas my magazine will be aimed at aged 16+. I also do not want the
font to be too bold because I do not want it to look like a rock magazine.

Rihanna, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Usher and Eminem because they are their favourite artists and are interested in them.

People said they would like to read articles on artists such as Rihanna, Drake, Usher and Kendrick Lamar. This is because these are their favourite artists in the R&B genre.

People said that they would like to see competitions included and would also like things that come with the magazine for example testers of products or mp3's.

5) Would you like a lot of pictures on the front cover?
Most people wanted a lot of pictures on the front because that is what catches their attention first, they also wanted pictures because they want to see who is going to be included inside the magazine; however, they do want some information on the front instead of having a page of images because they want to know that they will want to read the information inside.
6) How much are you willing to pay for the magazine and why?
The people who answered my questions said that they would pay between £0 and £3, they said this because it is only a magazine and did not want to spend too much money on it.
7) How old are you?
My results showed that most people who answered my questionnaire were between the ages of 16 and 19.
8) Are you male or female?
There were a mixture of responses for this question as R&B appeals to both genders as there are a variety of male and female artists in this genre.
9) Would you like the context to be technical?
My answers collected showed that most people did want the context to be technical because they wanted the information to be interesting instead of simple and boring.
10) What is your favourite RnB magazine?
People said that their favourite R&B magazines are Vibe and NME. They like these magazines because the information inside is interesting and they like the artists included.

My target audience for my music magazine is teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18 as I am within that age group and I will be able to relate to what they want to see in a music magazine and what the would pay for. The music genre that my magazine will be based on would appeal to older teens as the music is aimed at this age group and is not suitable to younger teens.

R&B
Black would be used for an RnB magazine because it symbolises power. Most artists in the R&B genre have a lot of power or like to think they do as R&B is a very popular genre of music to listen to. Black also shows that the magazine/ genre is not for younger people to listen to because it can be rude, childrens music magazines would use colours such as bright pink, blue, green and yellow.
Red is used in R&B magazines quite a lot and is associated with strength, power and energy. For the R&B industry artists need to be able to fight to show their music and o be the best artist in that genre. For example Eminem would be represented with red as he has got himself to the top and is known as the world best rapper.
Blue has been used on magazines for R&B as it shows confidence, depth and stability. For a Vibe magazine cover Rihanna was on the front with the colour blue as a background. This shows that she is well known and is stable where she is in the R&B industry, she is also a very confident artist and is not afaid to be different. This shows that artists need to be different and confident to be able to get as well known as Rihanna.
Yellow is associated with wealth, it is used in R&B magazines because most of the artists like to show off their wealth with the things they wear. It could appear on the front cover to highlight different features, for example a yellow heading against a black background would stand out and catch our attention. I will not be using the colour yellow on my front cover as I am not basing my magazine on wealth.
Pink would be used on the front of the magazine if it featured a female artist. It shows the power of a woman and would be used to highlight different parts on the page. It stands out against most colours so therefore makes it stand out and grab our attention. I will not be using pink for my magazine cover because I am not just focusing the magazine on women as i will be including things for men as well.
